Magma is a group from Paris. It was formed in 1969 by composer-drummer-singer Christian Vander and bassist Laurent Thibault. This group is at the origin of the musical genre called Zeuhl, mixing art rock, jazz, avant-garde, classical music, influences from Eastern European folk music, choral singing and lyrical singing. The group exerts a very significant influence on jazz-rock and the musical avant-garde throughout the world and introduces first-rate French and international musicians.
